ChapterQuest: The Stormglass Code – Interactive Mystery Adventure

You cannot read this book from beginning to end. You must unlock the story.

Thirteen-year-old Mara Bell has come to Stormglass Island for the North Star Challenge. She wants to prove—to her family, to the other competitors and most of all to herself—that the accident which left her terrified of deep water no longer defines her.

But before the competition can properly begin, a violent storm cuts the island off from the mainland.

The emergency systems start failing.

The lighthouse flashes a warning that should be impossible.

And Mara’s mother disappears.

As the tide rises and the weather worsens, Mara and her fellow competitors discover that the island’s records have been scattered into coded story files. Someone has concealed evidence, altered safety equipment and built a trail of half-truths through the lighthouse, flooded tunnels and abandoned boathouse.

To uncover what really happened, the reader must help Mara reconstruct the story in the correct order.

At the end of every chapter, three challenges test different reading skills:

  • a Word Key exploring vocabulary in context;
  • an Evidence Key testing careful retrieval and observation;
  • a Think Key requiring inference, motive or cause-and-effect reasoning.

Each correct answer provides one part of a code. Combine the three tokens, locate the matching story file and continue the adventure. An incorrect answer may lead to a dead end—or reveal that something in the timeline does not make sense.

But finding the next chapter is only the beginning.

Along the way, readers must collect hidden Route Words, recognise unreliable explanations and preserve vital evidence. Only those who understand the entire story can open the final Master Gate and identify the true ending.

Behind the storms, codes and dangerous rescues lies a deeply human coming-of-age story. Mara must learn that courage does not mean becoming fearless. Sometimes courage means admitting that you are frightened, accepting another person’s help and choosing what is right even when the truth could damage someone you care about.

Her companions face difficult choices of their own. Friendship is tested. Family loyalty becomes complicated. Adults make serious mistakes. Explanations do not automatically become excuses, and not every damaged relationship can be repaired overnight.
